I’m Bartosz Foltyn, born in 1981 in Katowice. I live and work in Gdańsk, where my studio is both a refuge and a ritual chamber.
In parallel, I’ve been developing my painting practice under the name NTZR - as my way of satisfying the hunger for a physical connection with matter, with the work itself.
I try to capture the intangible — to glimpse the trembling veil between reality and the void. I paint what should not be seen, what flickers just beyond the edge of comprehension.
My images echo the presence of things that lurk in silence — forms without names, feelings without shape, born in the blind spot of reason. Each painting is a failed invocation, a desperate attempt to give form to that which resists form — to translate the whisper of the abyss into matter.
I’m inspired by cosmic moods, textures of decay, the coldness of space, the silence of the void, and Lovecraftian mythologies — all echoing the fragility of human existence against the vast, indifferent universe.
My work is a silent meditation on our inevitable end — swallowed by the void, without meaning, memory, or return.
All paintings are hand-crafted. My process is slow, deliberate, and tactile. I use brushes, palette knives, coarse fabrics, and my bare hands to carve matter into meaning.
The surfaces are built in layers — scratched, burned, sanded down, and painted over again. Nothing is ever final until it collapses into balance.
For those drawn to the shadows I paint — reach out. Let’s talk about commissions, exhibitions, or forging something unexpected together.
